Ronald Gray Gibson, 74, passed from this life at home from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease on March 10, 2021.  Ron was born to Cromer and Rubye Gibson in Augusta, Georgia.  He graduated from Evans High School, Augusta Tech and the Community College of the Air Force, in addition to the OSI academy and the police academy.  Ron spent 20 years in the Air Force, serving in Denver twice, Vietnam, Shaw AFB, SC twice, University of Virginia ROTC detachment, Kadena AFB, Okinawa, Japan and Luke AFB in Arizona.  After retiring from the Air Force, Ron spent 25 years as an investigator with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, where he was involved in a number of high profile investigations.  He took great pride in trying to make the world a better, safer place, especially for the vulnerable populations.  While with the AG’s office, Ron participated in a number of charitable events to raise funds to support families in need, as well as the Baker to Vegas relay.  Ron enjoyed baseball from a very young age, playing as a child and adult, coaching little league and playing in softball leagues for many years.  He loved the out-of-doors, camping for many years, hiking, snorkeling and kayaking.  Ron was a great lover of animals, providing a home for many a stray and the occasional intentionally adopted cat and dog. Always up for an adventure, Ron didn’t balk at loading up the car and heading out for a family weekend trip after work.  A dedicated family man, Ron was a faithful supporter of the activities in which his family was involved.  Ron could be counted on to set up for, tear down and clean up after church activities.  Ron was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ervine.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara, son Scott Gibson (Amy), daughters Sheryl Ventura (Julio), Katie Marshall (Blake) and Tori Preston (Sam), as well as nine adored grandchildren, Jade, Allie, Clayton, Kira, Molly, Emma, Brynleigh, Baylee and Rylee.  He is also survived by his brother, Gene Gibson and his sister Tammy Newman (Wayne), of Grovetown, GA and many cousins.   A celebration of Ron’s life will be held on Saturday, April 24 at 2:00 at Celebration Church, 8726 W Olive Ave, Peoria AZ 85345.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the fund to replace the church carpet he so often vacuumed or to Hospice of the Valley, which provided wonderful support care.
