As a child, she excelled in school and was an avid reader. Janet graduated from high school in
1944. Janet modeled at the local department stores and was employed by Boeing. Later in life
she was a successful entrepreneur in owning and operating several businesses and real estate

From a very young age, Janet fell in love with books and that passion remained with her
throughout her life. There wasn’t a mystery book she wouldn’t read. Janet loved to garden and
she believed that gardening was good for the soul. Janet was a devoted and loving mother who
was so proud of her children and honored to be called MOM. She was affectionately called
Mimi and Gooma by her many grand-children and great grand-children. Janet was an animal
lover through and through and her home was always filled with four-legged children that
brought joy and love to anyone that entered. She is survived by her sweet fur-child, Toby.
Janet had a very giving heart and volunteering in her local community, be it as a den mom for
her boys, helping out at her children’s schools, assisting senior citizens get out and about, or
rescuing countless animals, she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Janet was a devoted
Catholic and her strong faith always guided her through life. Her favorite quote and her words
to live by were “I thank the good Lord every day for my blessings and my children.”
Janet married Herbert Milan McKnight on November 21, 1947 and again on December 15, 1975
and went on to have five children; Christine, Peter, Cameron, Cynthia and Elizabeth.
Janet is preceded in death by her father Gunnard, her mother Grace, her husband Herbert, her
sister Betty Walker (Johnny), grandson Collin McKnight, son-in-law Stan Charlton and her
brothers-in-law Johnny Walker and Art Hautala.

Sharlot. Janet is survived by 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Janet
was also blessed with an angel on earth her last seven years, her caregiver, Pat Stanciu.
