Ricardo "Ricky" Cortez Bolden died peacefully on Friday, November 30, in Glendale, Arizona, at the age of 74.
Ricky was born on August 10, 1944, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Van and Izola Bolden. Ricky accepted Christ at an early age. Ricky graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1963 and then continued his education at Ferris State University until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967. After his tour of duty in Vietnam he returned to Ypsilanti and became a proud member of the Ypsilanti Police Department. After his retirement with the YPD, he joined the security team at Huron Valley Steel, in Belleville, Michigan. Ricky moved to Glendale, Arizona, in 2015.
Ricky is survived by his wife Shirley; sons Marcus Jordan and Ricardo Quincy Bolden, both of Ypsilanti; Daughters Erika Michelle Bolden of Oklahoma, Stacie Bolden of Arizona, and Monique Bolden of Arizona; Sisters Rita of Ypsilanti, Nonna Lofton of Arizona, and Anita Hansen of California; Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ricky is preceded in death by his parents, Van and Izola Bolden, and brothers Bernard and Van.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service is planned for December 9, 2018, in Arizona, and a memorial service is planned for a date to be announced in Michigan.
