Gary Sawicke

Gary Royce Sawicke of Sun City, AZ passed away on 18 July 2018, at the age of 74 after battling Aplastic Anemia. Gary is survived by his spouse, Richard Argust, his sister Lynn Joyce Reeser, his children Kevin, Kim, and Kristen, and his grandchildren, Ryan, Brendan, and Gavin. He is preceded in death by his father, George Joseph Sawicke, mother, Helen Mary (Radawiec) Sawicke, and brother, Howard George Sawicke. Gary was born on 26 February 1944 in Detroit, Michigan. As a young boy, Gary became infatuated with photography. Gary graduated from Michigan State University 1967 (BA) and 1977 (MA). Gary was a teacher with Southfield Public Schools for 28 years and in his final 9 years he was able to pursue his passion and taught photography at Southfield-Lathrup Senior High School. Gary married Sandra Joan (Jablonski), and had three children, Kevin Michael Sawicke (Tucson, AZ), Kimberly Marie Murray (Roseville, MI), and Kristen Michelle Fraser (Roseville, CA). When Gary retired from teaching, he and Sandra moved to Oro Valley, AZ. After their divorce in 1999, Gary met Rich on July 4, 2001 and moved to Sun City, AZ in 2003, Gary and Rich were married on 21 September 2015 in Surprise, AZ. In April, 2016 Gary joined the Unity of Phoenix Spiritual Center and again used his photography skills in the Audio Visual department handling the camera for Sunday services as needed. Gary loved that he was able to give back to the church using skills he had acquired as a young boy in Michigan.
